Public Art: Crying Fountain

Also Known As : Fountain for Karlovy Vary

Sculptor: © Jan Kotek

Description: This 3.10m tall two tiered bronze fountain sprays out thermal water. Despite being "untitled" by the sculptor it is  often referred to as the Crying fountain. The two faced fountain symbolises eternal life, with the open eyed woman on one side representing day, while the close eyed man on the other side representing night. Above the faces are two snakes peering out from amongst some fruit.

Cast: Foundry HVH Horni Kalna

Date Unveiled: 2001

Location: The two faced fountain is located at the Market Colonnade in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
