Description: This monument is dedicated to Francis Scott Key (1779-1843) , the man who penned the words to the American anthem, a Star Spangled Banner. The bronze statue is of the Greek mythological hero of music and poetry, Orpheus.

Date Unveiled:The statue of Orpheus was dedicated on June 14, 1922.

Location: The Francis Scott monument was first erected in the middle of the entrance road to the fort but in 1962 it was moved to its current position near the Armistead monument, Fort McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
