Nechita, a Romanian born American, was named Ambassador for Peace by the United Nations in 2001.
She created seven peace monuments, which were inspired by the events of 11 September, 2001.

The artist had selected Singapore as the host nation in Asia for unveiling the first of the seven works.

The sculpture for Asia was unveiled at the Istana on 7 August 2005 by His Excellency President S.R. Nathan.
