Public Art : Patterson Fountain
Architect : © Andrew Patterson
Description : Andrew Patterson used Volcanic
bluestone from Pukatutu Island, fired glass and volcanic pumicestone from Hinuera to create the fountain that was
designed to represent Auckland's volcanic past. The site of the fountian is near a lava terrace that was formed
about 2,000 years ago when a volcano near Victoria St erupted. At night you can enjoy a red and orange light show
which happens on a 15 minute cycle.
Unveiled : 1994
Location : The Patterson fountain is located in
Freyberg Square near the statue of Lord Freyberg.
