Public Art In Bedford
Bedford is a town in the county of Bedfordshire in the East of England. The name of the town is
thought to derive from the name of a Saxon chief called Beda, and a ford crossing the River Great Ouse. Bedford was
long known as an agricultural town with wool being its most important industry . From the 16th to 20th century
Bedford became known for its lace industry.
The spire of St Paul's Church is one of the main features of the town and both John Bunyan and
John Wesley both preached there.
