Description:  A figure of a pioneer woman holding a water jug, symbolic of the guardianship over one our most precious resources, water.

Location: The Guardian of Water is located at 279 Yamashita-cho, Yamashita Park, Yokohama, Japan 231-0023, Yamashita Park, Japan

Background:  The original sculpture was erected in San Diego (United States) on the 10th of June, 1939. It was a gift to the city by local resident Helen Towle. In 1960 a replica of “Guardian of Water” was sent to San Diego's sister port of Yokohama in Japan as a gift from the San Diego-Yokohama Friendship Commission.
