Things You May Not Know About The Meeting Statue:

In December 2003 vandals badly damaged the Meeting sculpture by snapping the dog’s lead, leaving a dangerously sharp edge. Further attacks also left the artwork rocking on its base. The cost to repair the well-loved statue was over  £12,000. As a direct result, CCTV cameras were later installed to prevent future attacks.

The Gothic style building in Harpur Square was once the former Bedford Modern School but now is part of the Harpur (shopping) Centre.
