Public Art in Athens
Athens, also known as Athina, is one of the world’s oldest cities and widely referred to as the cradle of civilization. Public art in Athens is and was simply mind-blowing. Museums overflow with statues and sculptures that once were on public display. If there was ever a country that loved to honour their heroes and gods with a statue, it would have to be Greece. Interestingly, most of the ancient sculptures were painted in bright colours. It was only time that has stripped them of their pigments.
