Public Art in Thailand

Thailand is a country in Asia, formerly known as Siam. The country is a constitutional monarchy, headed by King Rama IX, the ninth king of the House of Chakri, who, having reigned since 1946, is the world’s longest-serving head of state and the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history. The elephant plays a significant role in Thai culture.  A white elephant appears on the flag of the Royal Thai Navy, and the “order of the white elephant” is one of the highest honours, bestowed by the king.
