Willem de Vlamingh Statue
The Willem de Vlamingh statue along the Swan River has been statue tipped, is being relocated or is having a refurbishment. Despite the soft filtered light of the afternoon sun, poor Vlamingh looked rather undignified, with his nose planted in the turf. In spite of his unfortunate predicament, I am sure Joan Walsh-Smith and Charles Smith are taking good care of the Dutch explorer. I did note that Vlamingh’s trusty swan has been removed, so odds are he is just getting a make-over.
