Goodbye Cruel World. I’m Off to Join the Circus, but I Missed the Last Train

Public Art : Goodbye Cruel World. I’m off to join the Circus, but I missed the last Train
Sculptor : © Ron Gomboc
Description : Ok, what is more scarier and creepier than the Tourists in Mundaring sculpture ? The clown in the park sculpture. I have got to tell you, all my worst fears are in this park , well certainly in this section of it . I know it is unintentional but there is no way on earth I would venture into this park after dark.
This wood, steel, cement fondu clown creation is in a bad state of disrepair which just adds to its scary status. I think it has survived a bushfire or two.
The clown is standing right behind a park bench under a street light as though waiting for a train (or to scare someone). If I was braver I would have got a shot of the clown at night under the light, but I am not, so you’ll just have to imagine it!
The Sculpture Park is actually where the old Mundaring Railway station used to be, thus the reference to the clown missing the last train. Originally a suitcase and hat were situated next to the clown but it seems they are long gone.
