Public Art in Florence

Florence is the Capital City of the Tuscany region of Italy and is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Public Art in Florence exploded in the 15th Century, a period which became known as the Renaissance, thanks in part to Lorenzo de’ Medici who was the ruler of the Florentine Republic during this time. He helped artists such as Antonio del Pollaiuolo, Andrea del Verrocchio, Leonardo da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Michelangelo Buonarroti secure art commissions.
