Public Art in Slobozia

Slobozia is the capital city of Ialomita County, Romania. The name of the city is derived from the word “slobozie” meaning “free village from taxes”. During the Tartar invasion, the villagers were given tax exemptions to keep them happy and to stop them leaving the area. The main public art attraction in the area is the 54m Eiffel Tower replica.
