Cottesloe is often renowned for its thought provoking public art collection but I suspect this one slipped through the net (pun intended).  Hidden below the Cottesloe Sundial it sadly sits, frozen in a midair pose, that gathering by the expression on its face, sums up its life.

I could understand if it was part of a children’s playground (pre 1970s) but it seems to have been placed there for no apparent reason. Slapped between poorly cemented rocks it doesn’t look safe for even the heartiest of snowflakes to attempt to ride. The plunge would would not be kind. The one redeeming feature is that whoever placed it there had the foresight to paint it grey.
